NU Kitchen, Newburyport's popular healthy food restaurant, is proud to host an exclusive art exhibition featuring a curated selection of fifteen original abstract paintings by the renowned local artist Jesse Mireles. Mireles, a national award-winning abstract expressionist artist, has recently settled in Massachusetts, bringing his unique artistic vision to our community.

The NU Kitchen venue is currently home to a stunning collection of Mireles' works, including the striking “Urbanscape,” a 48" x 72" abstract painting that captures the essence of urban life, the vibrant “De Oro,” a 48" x 48" acrylic on canvas abstract, and the captivating “Contralto,” a 48" x 48" acrylic on panel. Visit www.jessemireles.net to explore his entire collection. All the artworks on display are available for purchase, offering you a unique opportunity to own a piece of Mireles' exceptional art. The exhibit runs through the end of June 2024.

"We're excited to showcase original art in our Newburyport location," says NU Kitchen owner Joshua Van Dyke. "We pride ourselves on creating an uplifting atmosphere and inspiring our community one person at a time. Showcasing original art is part of that effort."

The NU Kitchen, located at 19 Pleasant Street in Newburyport, is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visit the NU Kitchen's website for more information.

Mireles' first solo show on the East Coast was held at the New Hampshire Art Association's Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in March 2023. His "¡Expressionismo!" exhibit featured twenty-four paintings, prints, and collages, winning the coveted D. Pratt Framer Award. In September 2023, Mireles' "Red Tide" entry was accepted to the Rockport Art Association & Museum National Show 2023, a prestigious juried exposition. "Red Tide" won the BankGloucester Award For Contemporary Art.

Mireles shares a deeply personal insight into his creative process in his artist statement. He states that his art reflects his humanistic vision, exploring the profound bond between humankind and the natural world. "I believe that I can convey my vision more powerfully and with greater emotional impact through the use of abstract concepts," Mireles reveals. As a newcomer to Massachusetts and New England, Mireles is eager to connect with fellow artists and expand his audience of abstract art enthusiasts.
